“Icarus” Lamp, a Legendary Design at Milan 2010

You are probably familiar with the legend of Icarus, a famous character in the Greek mythology who tried to escape Crete by flight, but the sun burned the wings he had created. David Trubridge, a designer from New Zeeland came up with the “Icarus” lamp which was unveiled at Milan Design Week. The interesting looking installation features three wing lamps which spiral around the “sun”, the main round item you can observe in the photos below. David also presented other energy efficient lighting designs, as he has been working for years on ecological products. He said all the pieces presented in the showroom managed to fit in his luggage and that they consume very little energy.-via Inhabitat
